Well it's almost Christmas, carols are being sung, bells are being hung and check out operators are developing RSI in their cash register finger.
There are small children wearing their pencils down to the nub writing out their Christmas lists.
There are shop owners eagerly rubbing their hands together in anticipation of parents in shopping frenzies, having passed the point of no return on their wits, their credit cards and their ability to make sound decisions.
Houses all over the country will be filled with crappy plastic objects designed to last the 2 weeks of the holidays that most people take before work starts again in early January, before they break and are tossed in the bin.
In spite of all of that going on I find that Christmas and the new year is a time of fairly significant power.
Regardless of whether you are religious, or celebrate Christmas at all it can be a great opportunity to contemplate your life. To contemplate what you have done with the year. To contemplate what has changed.
But you have to notice that this is a good time to do this.
You have to take the time to set aside the Christmas madness and maybe even look at some things that are not easy to look at – or uncomfortable.
Much of the craziness of Christmas is a great distraction from having to think… which means that the vast majority of people won't take that time, and will miss the opportunity or what can be gained by some serious introspection.
In the face of rampant consumerism crashing through this potent time like a runaway locomotive I want to share something with you that perhaps will change the way you approach the year to come.
Watch this video of Brendon Burchard who shares a turning point of his life and the three big questions that he asks himself every day…
The Big Questions to ask yourself now are:
Did I Live? (Really live?)
Did I love? (Did I really love 100%)
Did I Matter? (Did I really make a difference?)
If you can't answer YES to all 3 of these questions then ask yourself “What do I need to change to be able to have a “yes” here?
Next year is a new opportunity to make changes that mean you Really live, You Really love and You Really Make a difference for someone.
I started this Internet Phenomenon project at the beginning of the year to help people create time and money freedom in their lives using the internet. But even more than that, so that people can reach out to a wider audience to really make a difference in the world. To be able to reach hundreds, thousands even tens of thousands of people and make a difference in their lives in some way.
When you can affect that many people with your information and really make a contribution in their lives it doesn't take much for money to be a byproduct of that effort, but the real gifts come from being able to say at the end of each day:
Did I live? Did I love? and Did I Matter?.
You don't have to change the world. The way I see it, even a small positive change in one persons life is a valuable contribution. In two people's lives… even more so…
So take this opportunity at this time to contemplate these questions, to contemplate what you are going to do with the next year to make your life even more potent and begin to consider what your life will look like next year if you are truly taking those actions.
