But how did I build that list (and am still building that list?)
I buy traffic.
My second biggest source of traffic? _ I buy traffic via banner ads or specific sites…
Years ago banner ads got a bad name but in the last 2-3 years things have really changed. Targeting has got so much more specific and the ability to find great places to advertise has improved tenfold (probably more)
But I want to clear up one really critical point…
And I mean REALLY CRITICAL.
I’m shouting this because if you get this wrong you can blow thousands of dollars and get no return…
But get it right and you can get huge ‘click throughs’ (a high response from viewers)
…and the same principal applies not only to buying traffic…
it also applies to making your sales page work, and your offer, and your backend pages…
In fact if you get this right you can have the ugliest, crappiest site and it will still sell like gangbusters. ..
It will outsell the prettiest site – no matter how pretty it is – if it doesn’t have this one thing going for it…
Ha ha ha… I know I’m teasing you but I wanted to Really Highlight this Point – it’s that important.

It’s what’s called ‘market match’
Or ‘Message to Market Match’
Basically it means that you must match the right message to the right audience.
Roughtly stated – if you took your 6 year old daughter / son to a movie, you want it to be a nice, cute kids movie…
If you took them to a movie that looked cute but when you got to the cinema they started to play Rambo… you’d probably get up and leave cause it’s not appropriate right?
If you had 10 boxes of Collingwood Footy Scarves You’d be a fool to advertise them to members of the Carlton footy club.
But… get them in front of a rabid crowd of Collingwood fans – on a cold day – just before a big grudge match… and you’d sell out in 30 minutes.
So you can see – even if you’re not a football fan – the basic principal and how it relates to your online business or product right?
If you can get the right product in front of the right people it’s easy to make a sale… get the product or offer wrong, and t’s going to make your job very hard.
…Get your ad in front of people who don’t care and they just won’t click… get the right ad in front of the right people and you will be driving dirt cheap traffic to your offer all day long.
Unfortunately there’s not really a tool that can do this for you… you have to kind of work it out for yourself… go a bit of trial and error.
You have to learn to think like your customer…
You probably know that I do a fair bit with Real Estate Education… so where do people who are interested in real estate go to online?..
Well, real estate sites would be a good place to start right?
What about if you were selling health and wellness information? Well there are quite a few really big name magazine sites that deal with that subject… you could start there.
Got a product on gardening? Obviously you’d advertise on sites like better homes and gardens or similar…
Problem is that advertising to these kind of sites can be very expensive…
So if you only have a small budget head over to facebook.
Facebook collect information about all their users. What they LIKE, what they share, what fan pages they hang out on or interact with and even what web pages they visit around the web and what they buy on those pages.
It’s crazy really but it allows you to find people that are more likely that others to be interested in what you have to offer…
You can find people who have expressed an interest in your subject before and then target by gender, age, location and many other factors.
The latest targeting option is targeting by behavior… You can use this to find people who have just bought a certain item, or just come back from holiday or any number of other activities…
Why would you use this?
Well you imagination sets the limit of how you can use this… be creative and really spend some time thinking about what your perfect customer LIKE,s, shares, does with his time… and about age gender etc…
This will help you get laser focused which will make your advertising efforts much more effective and get you much more traffic for a much smaller spend.
