Are you addicted to over complicating things? No? Good!
This is for you!
Time was that to sell something online you had to hire a good copywriter or sales writer, or you had to learn that skill yourself so that you could write a page that would get people to read the whole page, find out what was in it for them and finally convince them to hit that buy now button.
Things are changing…
Time was online that people used to build websites that tried to make them look like they were a big corporation when in reality they were at home at their kitchen table.
The internet is the great leveller and it's no longer a problem to be completely honest about running your business from home – in fact you can use it to your advantage. You can apply the personal touch to your business and create real human contact which ironically the big businesses are now trying to emulate!
The personal touch is a huge factor online and sales copywriting is being left behind by video.
Using video in your marketing can be amazing because it allows you to get in front of the camera and actually tell people about your product, you can show them examples of what you are talking about, you can interview people who have used your product…
It's incredibly powerful!
Let's say you are looking for information on training your dog to do tricks and you find two pages.
WebPage 1: has a big long sales letter with tons of ‘sales-y' information, a few pictures lots of reasons why theirs is the best thing since sliced bread and why “you need it right now” and highlighting all the reasons why they are the expert that you need to listen to.
WebPage 2: At the top of the page has the actual dog trainer on video introducing themselves, telling you about the kinds of issues they can help you fix. Maybe they show you what their dog can do and how their simple techniques can get your dog to do the same tricks.
Then they have a few of their students showing you what their dog can do after just a few days using this training product…
Now let me ask you a question:
Which are you more likely to feel connected with?
Which one are you more likely to believe?
Which one are you more likely to buy from?
If you answered page 2 for all three questions, good! That means you see my point.
The cool thing is that if your content is good no one cares if your video is not professionally produced. If your content it good and you are personable and likable on camera then it doesn't matter if you record the video from your phone and it will still be perfectly good for your website.
ON the other hand if you are not personable and likeable on camera then no amount of professional video production is going to help you!
The big factor here is not looking professional it's about making connection with your audience. If you can do that then you are home and hosed! If you can talk to your audience like they are one of your best friends then people will buy your stuff.
The side benefits of making video like this is that it's quick, it's simple and anyone can do it.
If you are addicted to making things difficult and complex then video marketing is probably not for you but if you like to keep it as simple as possible then creating this kind of marketing could make you a lot of money.
The other great thing about video is that if you don't have a product yet, why not use video to actually create the content of your product. The world is in love with video training.
If you have a skill or something that you can teach then you have a product, just record a series of videos where you are talking, showing, demonstrating the how to of your subject and sell access to those videos.
This can be a very quick way to create content that has huge value and also automatically sets you up as an authority in your field. This is a great thing because when you make your next product people will already know what your stuff is like and will be 10x more likely to buy again…
You can already see how taking this approach could simplify your online business strategy and make you so much more money that trying to learn copywriting and sales pitches.
