What Drives Your Success Or Failure?
Who's running your show? Fear or Momentum?
At the risk of sounding like a motivational speaker I wanted to share some insights I have had over the years that have helped me to achieve success online.
Don’t worry, you’re not going to have to introduce yourself to the person each side of you,
…or massage their shoulders.
There will be no “you can do it” speeches or fist pumping…
It’s just this:
One of the things that stand in the way of far too many people is the need to not make any mistakes; to not make any errors in judgment or action or expenditure.
Especially that last one…
Let me ask you a question:
In terms of educating myself to improve my success, do you think that I’ve never spent money on something that turned out to be rubbish?
Of course I have. I’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on educating myself and some of it has been brilliant and valuable, some of it has been very ordinary…
You know what I do when I get something that is below par?
I learn what I can from it and I move on.
Why am I telling you this? Because I got an email from a man recently who was so paranoid about being (and I quote) “ripped off” that he wrote almost 10 pages of questions to help him decide if some education program was going to be helpful or a “scam”
Do you see what his thinking was here? It was either going to completely change his life or it was a “scam”.
First of all there’s was no middle ground…
His thinking was either black or white…
Second, he’s not treating this as a part of his education – he’s not looking at the program thinking that “if it get’s me closer to his end goal then it will have been worth it”
…it either got him there…
… or he would discard all the information he learned from participating in the program completely (regardless of whether it was useful or not to him)
And lastly (and this is the really big one)
The causes of all of his results were outside of himself. The program was either going to “do it for him” or he’d consider it a scam that takes him money and gives him nothing in return…
Can you see where I am going with this?
He spend all this time writing out this massive email asking how many people had achieved financial freedom with this program and so on…
But never did he question why he was basing his chances of success on what someone else was doing or not doing…
If there’s one thing that I’ve picked up in all my years of learning (and promoting educational events) it’s that most people just don’t follow through… they let tiny obstacles stop them in their tracks… and they lose all momentum.
They don’t keep going.
The underlying dynamic of this comes from a debilitating fear.
People run by this dynamic will do more to stop someone “stealing” $1 than they ever will to make $1.
They are so paranoid about being “scammed” that they miss valuable education when it’s right in front of them.
They miss opportunity when the door is open…
…and the red carpet is rolled out…
…and the doorman is holding the door open for them!!!
There’s a saying out there: “opportunity comes but once”
Now That’s rubbish!!! (this is the opposite if a good education)
…and as I write this I can see how believing this statement and fearing not getting it right must go hand in hand.
If you have only a single opportunity, and you don’t get it right… then your life is for naught…
But I’ve got a secret to tell you (yes I’m being tongue in cheek)
You have all the opportunities you could possibly need. As many as you want…
If you don’t get it right… learn what did and what didn’t work and have another go.
If you buy something that doesn’t work for you (provided you actually gave it a full hearted try) then learn what did work from it, take that and move on.
If you missed out on an opportunity that looked great… find out what was great about it and look for another!!!
Don’t give up.
Just keep moving.
I want you to do me two favours right now.
1- Consider where is your life this dynamic shows up in your life (sure and there will be some places where it does and others where it doesn’t)
2- I want you to go and watch the video at the top of the page:
Don’t put this off – don’t get to it later… its 3 minutes of your life that will shift something inside of you for the better.
Go do it now.
