Hard Questions That Can Make Success Easier If You Have The Courage To Answer Them Honestly
Just before Christmas I flew up to the Gold Coast from Melbourne to have lunch with online webinar expert Steven Essa.
It's a long way to go just to have lunch but here's the thing…
I think that he can teach you something…
Something well worth learning if you are serious about earning a living online.
- You don't have to be highly technical
- you don't have to know how to build a website
- you don't even need a product to get started
- and once you get started you don't need to be there hands on running the business other than a couple of hours a week.
- But here's the caveat
you do need to take some action
you do need to learn some new skills (which are easy to learn and fun)
you will need to take your ideas and turn them into reality…
Unfortunately there's no magic button, no shortcut that will send you money the instant you learn his strategy. Like all businesses – it does take work…
The great thing is that Steven outsources much of his business. He follows his plan and gets others to do all the heavy lifting, and he can show you exactly how to do that.
But that's not the big thing that I learned while I was having lunch with him.
If you have read Jon's emails for some time you will know that whilst he is definitely an expert in some areas – it's not Jon that speaks at the events that we run at knowledge source.
He is an expert in property investing but it's his marketing knowledge that is behind the success of the business.
It came to me some years ago that I can be more efficient in business if I am not the expert.
It's the same conclusion that both Jon and Steven came to in their business also.
By not being the expert and using your marketing knowledge to help other experts share their knowledge and wisdom you can create a great business and still have time to have a life.
Again and again it comes down to this one thing… making sure you have the right business model.
There are lots of business models that you can choose and it's important to choose the one that is going to suit you best.
The questions that I ask myself (and the same questions that I have asked clients I the past) are these:
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- What excites you?
- What bores you?
- Do you have a message that you are desperate to share?
- How much time, realistically, do you have to work on this business?
- Are you willing to be the face of the business?
- Are you camera shy (screen shy – attention shy)
- Are you able to learn technical stuff or do you have a mental block in that area?
- Do you really want to be successful in this area or is it just a nice idea (fantasy) – Be truthful here – this is critical!
- Do you have the support of your family / loved ones / important others?
- How much money do you have to get started?
These question often reveal the major obstacles that people will encounter when starting on online business or online income stream.
It's not that there are right and wrong answers to these questions it's just that honest answers will allow you to choose and develop a business that will actually help you succeed.
Answers that are not real will help you create a minefield that will cause you headaches.
People who don't get completely real about what they do and don't want to do are going to end up encountering the exact things in their businesses that they don't want to do which is going to undermine their success.
Go through the questions yourself.
Regardless of whether you are starting an online business, want to or have already got one, answering these questions will help you refine your business and your business model.
The great thing about using a business model where you are not the expert but rather helping experts to do what they love is that there are so many experts out there who need help with marketing.
Online it's easy to see people who are trying to do everything themselves and end up not doing anything well.
If you can specialize in one thing and do it well, people will flock to you to have you help them in their business or their life.
…And they will value your information that much more.
